Other qualifications
Qualified as a General Nurse in 1988 from Westminster Hospital London. Earned a Cancer Nursing Diploma from the University of Hull. Gained various work and educational experiences in cancer and palliative care, including studying MSc modules at the University of Surrey.
I utilise the Clarkson relational model, which integrates three fundamental schools of counselling psychotherapy theory: Psychodynamic, Humanistic, and Transpersonal. Additionally, I have completed postgraduate training in Attachment-based psychotherapy, mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Energy Psychotherapy, and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). My clients are adults ( and over 16 years) who wish to ease their suffering and resolve life challenges. Together, we build strategies for better regulation. If you'd like to learn more about Attachment Theory, you can list to my podcast episode here.
I typically assist with stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, and grief. Trauma triggers can be explored, understood, and processed if appropriate. Techniques like Emotional Freedom Technique EFT and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing EMDR can be beneficial for working through traumatic experiences. Our sessions can help you explore inner resources, gain new perspectives, and understand yourself and your relationships better.
We aim to offer personal acceptance, adaptation, or change, and help you gain better control of your life. Psychotherapy experiences vary widely, making them hard to describe precisely. To learn more, feel free to call me or book an initial session. This will help you decide if you'd like to work with me and allow me to assess how best to assist you. Our first session allows you to discuss your current situation, goals for our sessions, and to discuss confidentiality and the commitment to work together.
